>>17117822they are, but the issue is that i'm at the infamous 75% comprehensibility bubble. i still run into words i don't know in just about every sentence which is very uncomfortable on a primal sort of level, but knowing 4 of 5 words is a high enough hit rate to understand dialogue fine as long as it isn't some sort of highly technical exposition
it ends up making it really difficult to casually enjoy something without subtitles since it's guaranteed i'm going to miss some nuance, it takes all of my focus to fill in gaps with context clues, and i do still get completely lost in a scene every once in a while, so the instinct is to always have subtitles on hand just in case even though it's an obvious catch 22 wherein i'll never get comfortable without subs if i always rely on them

just really different from something like bass where it feels like the hard part is thinking through what i'm doing fast enough, while drums feels like i know exactly what to do but i'm engaged in an actual wrestling match with my own body to do any of it
