Or products you can buy that are American may be the most common or large brand items that don’t always represent the full scale of American foods.
The foundation of America being from so many different cultures means we have a massive variety in cultural foods, though adapted over time to a sort of generally agreed upon “American version”.
And that applies to everything from large fast food chains to small restaurants to home cooked meals. Taco bell, your local small Mexican restaurant, making tacos at home. All 3 of those are similar in raw idea but very different than actual Mexican cuisine. A real Mexican taco is only going to be found at places which go for 100% authenticity in their regional cuisine, but the concept of what a taco is remains the same.
You can get a real, authentic as if you were in Italy pizza in the United States. Not many places have them, but they’re out there. Including a variety of regional variants and unique toppings and presentation from different parts of Italy. But most pizza otherwise is the Americanized version, it’s an appreciation for what the pizza is, with an American take on it.
And almost any country does this at least with some of the less complex foods. There’s pizza worldwide and every culture has their own different pizza.
