blue items are pretty trash and you should not hoard them, they can be fine in the early game like until level 10 or even 15 but then you would want to switch to using socketed items with gems or runewords in them
socketed items are very heckin useful and you can recognise a socketed item by looking at it's name, it should be exactly grey and i think pretty much in every playthrough you would want to find or buy a 2 socketed armour and a 2 socketed helmet and a 2 socketed shield if your character uses shields and it gets pretty advanced so you should also watch this small guide
