Abstract The ongoing culture war between frogposters and animeposters on /bant/ has fascinated me, and I wanted to find out for sure if there was actually a difference between how people respond to anime and frog shitposts when their content is identical, to see whether either side actually cares about "post quality". I have secretly conducted a study over the last few weeks using covert frog and anime posts to see how other posters on /bant/ would react to them, and especially to see whether the moderation reacted differently to them. I should point out to start with that I don't really post frogs or anime on /bant/, I just find the culture war dynamic interesting and wanted to dig into it further. Method I created 120 more or less random "phrases" using either music lyrics, tv or film quotes, or just randomly generated phrases from chatgpt. I randomly paired these with 60 random pepe edits downloaded from /bant/, and 60 popular random anime and otaku culture images downloaded from /bant/. Using a proxy I posted 4 of these per day, 2 anime threads and 2 pepe threads, and never interacted with the threads beyond creating them, and simply logged the interactions with the threads once they 404'd or were deleted. I logged how many responses total the threads got, how many "clearly approving" responses they got, and how many "clearly disapproving" responses they got, as well as any obvious necrobumps.

Data Here is the raw data: Pepe threads: Average replies: 2.89 Average approving replies: 0.76 Average disapproving replies: 1.49 Average necrobumps: 0.31 Mod deletion rate: 15% Anime threads: Average replies: 1.72 Average approving replies: 0.63 Averaging disapproving replies: 0.34 Average necrobumps: 1.22 Mod deletion rate: 0% Reuslts The results were very interesting. Despite these threads being essentially identical in thought and effort level, their responses were very different. Anime threads tended to slide off the board more or less ignored, with just a few posts occassionally. The disapproving replies tended to be aimed at the particular character moreso than anime in general. However, my anime threads were nearly 4 times more likely to be necrobumped than the pepe threads I created. The pepe threads generally received more engagement than the anime threads, but were over 3 times more likely to get clearly disapproving and angry replies. Additionally, 9 out of my 60 Pepe threads were deleted by the jannies, while none of my anime threads ever were.

Conclusion There does seem to be a strong bias against threads with pepe op images on /bant/ even when the content is more or less identical otherwise. Threads get more engagement on average, but it tends to be more negative and there is a much higher risk of post deletion and a 3-day ban. Anime threads, on the other hand, had slightly less engagement but more necrobumps and essentially no risk of moderator action. For whatever reason, posting a pepe edit as your op image tends to make people more angry with your content regardless of what it is, and puts you at greater risk of moderator resprisal based on the inherent biases of the posters and moderators on /bant/.

>>17235000 >>17235001 >>17235002 While this is interesting, I think it ignores the real reason why posting frogs gets a negative response. It’s not like there’s a bias against pepe edits, it just associates your post with a group of people who have engaged in bad behavior on this board, like spamming, flooding, necrobumping, organizing raids and deliberately sliding good content for their own amusement. Of course those threads are going to get a negative response.

I look forward to reading the copes people are gonna come up with.
At the end of the day your frog threads were deleted because they’re spam whereas your anime posting was not.
Is it a double standard? Yes. Get used to it. That’s life sweaty.

Tranime posters are always more interesting while frogposters post one off lines or references to other threads. While tranime does have blog threads, the majority always post a thread topic at the very least. Meanwhile frog threads are snide remarks put into a new thread or replies to other threads that couldve easily be posted in the thread they are replying to instead of making a new thread.
Anonymous
>>17239648 clearly not the case because tranime threads have a slightly lower approving replies rate than frog threads. most of them would get very little replies if it wasn't for the necrobumping

Frogposters take posting too seriously. See this thread for evidence. It makes you seem like no fun retards. You fags create all this drama where there doesnt need to be. You take every non frog thread as an insult.
