>>17242168>Why aren't young people having sex anymore?Are they not having sex worldwide, or is it particularly the 'Western' countries?
Because I believe the current culture of the West has a lot to do with it, and for multiple reasons all coming together (pun intended):
1. Too much time on the Internet and social media: We're getting all of our socialisation here instead of out IRL where things like body language and pheromones can do their work. On top of that, social media makes us all Narcissistic little sh*ts who are so self absorbed that we're terrible to be around;
2. Third-Wave Feminism: The current narrative that masculinity is already a slippery slope and 'toxic masculinity' is the absolute devil has really taken hold. Young women are hyper-critical of men to unrealistic levels, and in ways which they never were in the past. Young men, in turn, are now petrified of coming across as "creepy" so most don't even try an approach, so as to not be put on blast online (see point number 1);
3. Excessive Pornography: The Internet didn't exist for a fair portion of my Life, and even with that I overdid it with pornography. I'm horrified to imagine young boys in their teens getting access to some of the more extreme stuff I've seen and thinking that's actually normal and acceptable behaviour. So that therefore affects their socialisation towards, and expectations of, women. But more than that, there's the desensitisation to sex which comes from seeing it in your face for hours and hours each day. That can—and does—make it more difficult for men to perform sexually on the odd occasion when IRL sex can happen (because I've experienced it myself, but there's also now data to prove) because the IRL woman just isn't sexy enough for what's buried in the imagination. (Advice: Ween yourself off of the hardest pornography if you can, and all the way down to lewds if possible. I know that may sound prudish, but it helps a lot.);
