>>17268393I talk with poles online and know a guy who’s like this. Has grudges and never, ever forgets.
I’m american and southern so everyone around me is a mutt. I suppose they’d be german/british but frankly I doubt our cultures are much like the homeland.
HOWEVER my father, who is italian/spanish, and my mother, who is british, are extremely solidified into the stereotypes. Hell, my dad is fat and aging and looks pretty gross now but he still has a way with women just like the classic stereotype. He even still has his hair.
I’ve not met Russians much but they are completely fascinating when I see pictures and hear accounts.
Also the irish blood seems to be extremely strong. There is a lot of irish people who keep irish traits in america, there are tons throughout greater appalachia. Same for Scandis in the northwoods region.
Anyway aside from that stream of thoughts, I’d say russians are different because their empire collapsed 30 years ago and they are not actually that used to modernity, despite being extremely smart. There was always an edge to Russians but their history is that of being poor, fighting insanely bloody wars against every neighbor, and struggling to survive in one of the worst environments on the planet. Comparatively, irish and scandis live in relatively pleasant regions and usually just had clan wars or raided other regions. Nothing like Russia. There is nothing like Russian history, though. Perhaps only the central asians, who were in a similar position, were as battle hardened - but invaders obliterated most of them long ago. The only real remnant of that spirit is in Afghanistan. Funny that the largest russian empire ever was broken there right before their fall. And that fall plunged Russians right back into poverty and desperation, something they never seem to escape for very long. That’s why they don’t have filters, methinks.
