>>17339974it doesn't seem so bad here, but it always sounded like a terrifying prospect back in the states. though funny enough i didn't even realize the crime rate was actually way way above the national average in the city proper back home
well that's always a bit of a funny topic considering how incomprehensibly massive tokyo is and how totally barren the countryside has become
like it seems straightforward to say that nagoya is the 4th largest city in japan by population, but it fails to consider the fact that it has just over half the population of yokohama which is the #2 spot specifically because tokyo has expanded to the point that the two cities are completely contiguous. 1/10th of japanese people live in tokyo and 1/3rd of them live in "the greater tokyo area" which includes preexisting cities that tokyo has expanded into
which is all to say that nagoya is slightly smaller than osaka and slightly bigger than sapporo, but all 3 combined are closer to deserted than they are to the size of even just tokyo proper
>>17340024very, unfortunately. korean exchange student thought it was extremely cool when i said i play bass but we haven't spoken at all since lol
to some degree, but after a certain point there's an awkwardness that comes from sitting around silent because i'm trying to keep up even following the conversation when there's one i could be participating in 3 feet away. again the kind of thing that i'd maybe try to just muscle through anyway if i wouldn't also be the only dude "in" the conversation
