if we're going to suffer enormously because of brain chemistry or some kind of immutable personality trait we can only learn better coping mechanisms
that said idk i have never worked out a means for myself that works to make me suffer less. the stoics were wrong, subjecting yourself to more uncomfortable and bad things just wears out what i feel like is a limited amount of emotional energy you have. people may be poisoned by dopamine these days, but the solution clearly isn't to make yourself more miserable on purpose.
also i've never worked out why some people become better for their suffering, and some people become dramatically worse either.
emotional intelligence is also a fucking meme though we feel how we feel and therapy is a rent a friend service for bored middle age women
