Even with an independent South the North still remains the dominant power in North America, at least for several decades, but remember that both Britain and France were openly trading with the CSA during the war, before we even start counting the antics with CSA blockade runners like the CSS Alabama.
The Texas oil boom is what’ll really catapult the CSA’s economy into a major player, and with an ostensibly foreign power at their southern border, the USA is going to be extremely hesitant to join both world wars, doubly so for WWII with massive German populations in the CSA and major sympathizers in the USA’s political network.
