So, my theory is, they set out to do exactly that. G&T/GT/GATE was the logical extension of MKULTRA. Everyone reports strange experiences that are wildly different from typical "learn this" education. Hypnosis, shape cards, hearing tests, etc.
The purpose of all of these is to teach pattern recognition and critical thinking.
The GATE program was designed from the outset to create sleeper agents who would meld with society and become totally undetectable, until enough patterns are recognized or the situation becomes untenable enough that they start doing "negative overtime at work" by hospitalizing political agitators and stabbing marxists on the bus.
In and of this, there is a certain subset of people in the United States that you can tell are GATE//MKULTRA subjects. They're characterized with a pathological obsession with the truth and ideological conformity. They demand that something is a priori true, regardless of if it's true a posteriori. They are canonical liturgists and refuse convenient information and decisions if it does not align with what they personally know to be true.
They're a gift from the 1970's CIA to the future, and probably the last defense against the complete subversion and destruction of the Western system that died in nearly all respects in the early 1900's.
