It's literally impossible to take guns from Americans.
This is withtout taking into account the reverse-psychology effect. Every time there's a hint of hint of a threat of them guns away, the gun sales skyrocket. And rest assured whatever stockpile of guns to be used by militia when SHTF grows a little bit larger.
