>>17414957The policies were made because the vaccines reduced the risk of moderate to severe disease in people infected with the virus. That is true, it was true, and still is true. Retarded leftists spread the meme that "if you're not really sick, you're not infectious", which not only was never proven with the vaccines, but is potentially counterproductive when people go "hurr I'm vaccinated, so even though I'm sick it should be fine, right?" Then retarded politicians who know nothing about medical science pick that up and create policy based on a meme pulled out of the collective asses of Twitter addicts. Then retarded righties look at retarded people doing retarded things and go "ha, see, everybody else is retarded but me! Time to pretend immunologists don't know anything about immunology!"
Covid vaccines are basically the same as flu vaccines. Effective enough to be useful, but now that the virus is endemic, it's not the same level as VZV or pneumococcus vaccines. Being a medical professional, I'll likely be required to stay up to date on all those (and the RSV vaccine when that comes out). People in congregate living or people working with groups (eg college students in dorms and teachers) will likely be very heavily incentivized to be vaccinated, and in private organizations may be required. All other adults will be recommended. And frankly, if you're too much of a pussy to get an annual flu vaccine, you deserve to get fucked by influenza.
