KDE plasma is a crashing POS, I really WANTED to like it too but eventually the krashing became too much to bear

You must be really lucky or have a really good computer. Either way all the fancy KDE stuff like animations and whatnot kinda bothered me, I like how snappy MATE is.

You don't need to have a minimalist WM to have a keyboard workflow but i3/sway/DWM are lots of fun to setup, I would reccomend it.

i do have a good computer but does that really matter? i can see kde misbehave only ancient systems
also you can disable all the animations by setting them to be instant
i do use i3 on my 8yo laptop as i find it's the one that loads fastest
