I know "too poor to afford weights" is code for underage but yes pushups will make your arms big as long as you are also doing tricep exercises like tricep dips.

once you're comfortable doing push ups (like 20 in a row), put a bunch of shit in a backpack and do pushups with that.
atm I can do about 10 pushups with 80lbs in my backpack

Try to find a variety of push ups that ypu find hard to complete and do those instead. When they become easy to do ten of change again. Then do it in some set like, 10x3 5x5 etc. Doing 100 of x exercises per day is retarded.
