They give you enough so that they are seen as good parents but behind closed doors will destroy your self esteem, they will do anything to set you back because they dont want to see you do better than them, they can remind you how useless you are compared to your siblings, they can isolate you from others to stunt you socially, they can beat the shit out of you and explode in anger for dumb shit or they can just explode for stupid things because theyre frustrated and take it out on you because kids are an easy target, and so on. Some parents also diddle their kids and act like the kid was the one that started it all. So many things that can make someone hate their parents.
