What is a Shitpost?

What is a shitpost? Shitpost is a commonly used word on the internet. The very definition of it is unclear, but it is often used to describe posts with low effort put into them. Some common examples of a shitpost are creating generals that nobody asked for, such as the Rowley General (which should totally come back), which is a place for general discussion about Rowley from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book and movie series. Another common example is creating posts about "Pickle Rick", a version of the character Rick from the popular Adult Swim show Rick and Morty. Pickle Rick comes from season 3 episode 3. Certain people dislike the character Pickle Rick, and Rick in general for being too spontanteous and random, which the writers of the show percieve as humor. This form of shitposting, although very recent, has become widespread on websites where the majority of users hate Rick and Morty. Another form of shitposting are posts depicting the character Danny Phantom, from the show also titled Danny Phantom, with the text "I'm going ghost".
All of the types of shitposts which I have just mentioned have something in common. You may be thinking to yourself right now, "The Anon said that shitposts are used to describe posts with low effort put into them, so that must be what they have in common". But this is not the case. Although people still use the term shitpost to describe posts with low effort, recently there have been posts that have high effort put into them, yet people still classify them as shitposts. Shitposts are ever evolving. So what now defines a shitpost? It can't be the length, because there are many shitposts that have a long length to them which usually goes along with high effort. It can't be the actual quality of the post, because people often describe things as being "high quality shitposts".
