That's where you fucked up.
You can't just walk up and expect instant results. If you are trying for the pickup approach though you still have to socialize. You just look for an opportunity to start conversation first and if you vibe keep it going, have some drinks, and then after basically having an impromptu date then you ask if they wanna get out of there or at least try to get their number. You're jumping the gun. The easiet way is just being extroverted though. Know a lot of people and socialize a lot and you'll inevitably meet quite a few people you resonate with pretty quickly through friends and friends of friends and have a pool of girls you're not a complete strager to to ask out.
