Anyone on /bant/ historically reenact anything, or just LARP wearing ancient/medieval (or other period, fantasy, etc) inspired stuff, in general? How expensive was it to buy your equipment? Do you like Romans more, or barbarian tribes? If you reenact, which period do you portray? If you LARP fantasy, which series do you depict?

It's the closet way I could get into reenactment. My great great grandfather was a Confederate soldier back when Texas joined the Confederacy and pretty much served throughout the entirely of the war. He ended up losing his ranch after the war and had to migrate west to look for work during reconstruction.

Early-medieval Slavic bowman here. All I am missing that isn't authentic yet is the quiver and a set of arrows. Bow costed me some 700PLN, clothes were self-made as well as some archery gear.
