I saw this graphic of religion in germany, at first it came to my mind that during the east solialist regime religion was oppressed, thus it made sense half the population be non religious, but than i realized it was weird, people oppresed during the regime would get out of the religious closet by now, and also from the last decades CDU has governed the country, so i assumed a good chunck of the society would be christian, even with the socialist in power right now, you can assume some christians vote for other pories, but it is hard to conceive atheist voting for a christian party. So I investigated further.

It seams that there is a law in germany that if you declare yourself form a religion the chruch have the right to charge you 8 to 9% of your income, like how they did in medieval times. So what happen is that people will just declare themselves non religious even if they go to church every weekend. I mean could you imagine a Jew declaring something that he knows will cost him money?
