Because it's retarded as fuck and just about any poojeet can cobble together a working program from it. The python interpreter is a fucking peice of shit too, look up name mangling and you'll see why. Python can only exist because hardware has progressed enough that it can brute force the interpreter into reasonable execution times. Even then people are abandoning it for more efficient languages. It'll always be used by "programmers" like data scientists though because it's easy.

I'm in love with C#, but If I want to add some piss easy scripting language to something I make, I use LUA. It's more or less the same speed as javascript depending on what/how you're coding, and it's every bit as easy as Python. I hate the syntax though.

C# is fast enough, occasionally faster than C++ at a few things, and if you REALLY need more speed you just do your number crunching in unsafe code blocks or use extern. But I find that it strikes the right balance the vast majority of the time. But if I was writing something where performance was that absolutely critical then I wouldn't be considering something as high level as C# in the first place.
