>>17598658>The problem with most isekai is that most of the characters are losers in real life, who get reincarnated into a video game world, are given huge advantages in the world (knowledge and usually a super power as well), and are rewarded for acting in shitty ways that would get them hurt in the real world. It is pure wish fulfillment and that shit gets tiresome fast.>mostAnd in that one word is the bullshit. Because all you've actually done is describe the basic pillars of the genre, which is just saying
>it's a genre, and therefore I don't like itIt's not even saying you don't like the genre, you just don't like that it's a genre which is stupid prima facie.
But the "most" is what makes it most stupid because you're ignoring the some. The some the play with convention and do something different, and in fact that's actually not merely some, but most. Most isekai have some sort of twist on the formula that makes them interesting in some way.
Saga of Tanya the Evil, the dude is not a loser.
I'm a Spider, it's a chick instead of a dude.
Realist hero, the dude doesn't have any superpowers except a Japanese education.
Arifureta, the dude is not actually OP he's just full of shit.
But you can only really enjoy those examples properly once you understand the genre, which is to say there is some "perfect" isekai that breaks no rules at all. But then when you actually go looking for it you realize it doesn't really exist. EVERY Isekai is a play on the genre.
