I gave up finding a job. After 52 resumes tailored to the employer's liking over the course of 3 years, no one called me back. I think I should become be a thief.

This, my work applications were around 1 per day for a very specific field while working. 50/week might be a lot if you need cover letters, but 1 per day should be possible, and it sounds like you need to go wide rather than deep.

Cover letters are a scam. Dont fill them out. I can assure you every job has like 10 applications and people are not wasting time reading cover letters. They want to know your skills and experience
