The more breathing room there is for both naval routes and road, the better. After US bases , it's pure inevitability until Georgia starts acting like Lithuania did on the question of Kaliningrad road. We need access to roads to Iran and Turkey, for example.
After Georgia, who says there won't be any further expansion to, say, Azerbaijan? That would cut off Russia from Iran even further. By this point the Belt & Road Initiative will noticeably suffer, which is the play of the US to begin with.
In short, no matter how much Poland, Baltics, Georgia, etc. try to make it sound like the conflict is about them, it's not about them.
