>>17743170If you have to go to confession you are indeed a Christian but more specifically you're some denomination of Catholic which is objectively the worst choice. Catholics believe that only some of the most pious and faithful like the papacy get into heaven. The rest of us go to hell which is in stark contrast to their own scripture.
>"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."-John 3:16 >" If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."-2 Chronicles 7:14>"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."-1 John 1:9While repentance is baked into the scripture confession is not. You do not need to confess your sins to a man of god or a priest to get forgiveness and you were already forgiven for your sins so long as your repent to God.
>"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24No man needs to know the extent of your sins. Only God. This is only one of many reasons Catholicism is one of the worst choices for personal happiness and strengthening of your faith.
We won't even go down indulgences, paid fast passes to get out of purgatory and the endless lines of contradiction between scripture and the faith.
While I urge you to pray and confess what you have done to god I do not advise you to take the entirety of the Catholic faith for what it is as it is the single entity that has besmirched the words of God and distorted them for financial, political and personal gain.
So long as you accept that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins then you are a Christian.
Repent for what you've done to the almighty.
