The Matrix is about a group of trench coat mass shooters with kung fu superpowers. Over the course of the film they come to the realization that they are on another level from the rest of humanity. Everyone else lives in "the matrix" which isn't even considered "real" to them. And since it isn't "real" they have no problem killing people whether they be cops or unfortunate souls possessed by an agent. And crash a helicopter into a building like it's 9-11 for good measure.

It came out in 1999 the same year as the Columbine shooting. Keanu Reeves would later go on to be America's favorite mass shooter as John Wick. John Wick came out in 2014 the same year as Elliot Rodger's "retribution" in Isla Vista.
