Spirulina is quite big for a microalgae and also the shape is spiral and long, so it will break down easily

That small diaghram pump breaks it, but those smaller microalgaes can handle it, these was the ones I grow on that reactor model:

- Thalassiosira pseudonana
- Porphyridium cruentum
- Nannochloropsis
- Chaetoceros
- Isochrysis galbana
- Dunaliella salina

With spirulina, we need to use bigger pump, those which are used to transfer baby fish in aquaculture industry

Spirulina is uniwue, since its blue green algae, bacteria

In fact, it grows even faster in dark, if about 1% of sugar is available to it

But, even with light: plants need optimun about 10k lux and spirulina only 2-3k lux, as it haves more photosynthetic pigments, than plants it can utilize light more efficiently

The another tank is just for producing CO2 with alcohol fermantation, for rapid growth microalgae needs much more CO2 than there is in the air present, for example optimum for spirulina is about 4% CO4 which humans cannot breath or even can lose conciouness

That's pretty cool man, what got you into algae farming? I saw one video before of this guy farming spirulina in his backyard and I thought it was cool and one day when I have a yard I might try it. I suppose I could try to grow some indoors but I would rather use the sun for light if it means I get a better quality product

This is just about spirulina though, what about all the other diatoms you mentioned earlier? Its also used for feeding cattle and composting? BTW I have no experience or knowledge on this stuff, just seen a couple youtube videos

Fair enough, but I recommend you test your grows to make sure there's no contamination, if you're going to be eating this stuff or feeding it to cattle or use for composting I wouldn't want you to accidentally harm yourself. Because it seems like your d.i.y. setup doesn't provide an industry level sterile environment. The link to the pbr I sent you had all types of filters for the air, water and c02 to ensure no contaminates get inside. And even if I had something fancy like that I would still send for testing
