Their website still got a lot of traffic from people who would just log on to complain about ribs and brisket, so they decided to shut down the meat service and only host the comment section.
As it happened, an HP salesman named Ray Kroc received a call from them to install 6, no, 8 new widgets at their place of business. Ray, being the supergenius that he is, wanted to help them expand the website, but the brothers were just too controlling.
Ray decided to just go ahead and build reddit.whater without them, and it got so big, so fast that the Reddit brothers couldn't afford to sue him for copyright.
They later sold Ray the rights, and renamed their website.
