Is the Xbox Elite controller worth the money or are all the horror stories about it true? I desperately want a controller that can last and money is of no concern at this point.

The "horror stories" are all from 14 year olds who throw their controllers across the room every time they get outskilled. Apart from cheaping out on using the same sticks as the standard xbox controller (easily upgraded anyway) it's great.

I had multiple controllers that had an issue with at least one of the bumpers and multiple people have the same issue. Other than that they're fine.

I had a problem with one of my bumpers that was solved with isopropyl alcohol. Just a bit of cleaning underneath and it was like new again.
