There is no "perfect option", world is not fair and your country is situated between Scylla and Charybdis. All while borders of your country contain areas that Russia considers its own but SSSR gave them away in order to dillute Ukrainian nationalists with Russians. After the dillution failed and Ukrainian nationalists gained strong control anyway with help of American glowniggers, adversity continued gaining momentum until it eventually led to large scale war.
