They’re out there but have changed the way they operate to be more in line with modern investigative techniques. You can just look up the stuff the police use and what the process is. Then you can stay one step ahead.
Remember when hitmen were a thing? They still are but we don’t hear about them as much because they’re harder to detect and at the higher echelons of society there’s many ways to go undetected.
I myself have tinkered with the thought and know how I’d do it and what kind of killer I’d be. It’s a fun thought experiment to try to figure out how to get away with murder. Married couples talk about it all the time.
