If earth was flat, then why can't we use a regular CB-radio to make contact with other continents?
Why cant you use a handheld FRS or GMRS walkie talkie on the east coast to talk with the west coast?
Sure, people make global radio connections each day, even with very low wattage but that's because radio waves bounce off of the atmosphere.
So if earth was flat there would be quasi-optical conditions all over the globe which means as long as there is no mountain inbetween you would be able to have low wattage radio connections over hundreds and thousands of miles. At least you would be able to stand on the french atlantic coast and talk to a buddy in NYC.
And this doesn't end with radio connections. If you were on a yacht in france you'd be able to see every ship in the atlantic ocean on your screen IF earth was flat.
