In the shadows of history's past,
A tale of a nation that didn't last.
A land once mighty, but lost in decay,
This is my poem against the USSR's sway.
Under the hammer and sickle's embrace,
Lies a legacy of suffering and misplaced grace.
A regime that silenced voices, stifled dreams,
Where oppression flowed in merciless streams.
From Siberian gulags to secret police,
A reign of fear that never found release.
Citizens bound by chains of control,
Their liberties crushed, their spirits stole.
Economic struggles, a failed command,
The USSR's grasp slipping from its hand.
Central planning stifled innovation,
An empire crumbling, facing stagnation.
But amidst the darkness, hope still gleamed,
In the hearts of those who dreamed and schemed.
The longing for freedom could not be denied,
A spark ignited, spreading far and wide.
Voices rose, demanding a new dawn,
The walls of tyranny were soon to be gone.
Nations emerged from the Soviet's grip,
A shattered empire, a sinking ship.
So let us remember the lessons learned,
The triumph of liberty, the bridges burned.
For in the face of oppression, we stand tall,
United in the belief that freedom will never fall.
