Hitler's ideology at least was straight forward. He believed some people were superior to others and sought to systematically genocide the people who viewed as parasites. Awful, but really just prejudice taken to its logical extreme.
It's not the same as the communist regime under Stalin destroying the very people it's meant to "help". Being put into a ghetto and then being killed because you were juden in Germany was cruel and evil, but it's not quite the same as your own children being government informants and living in paranoid fear that the secret police may come for you. Being thrown into a gulag despite being a stalwart believer in the party that put you there. murderers, rapists and thieves who are locked up with you being treated better than you and sometimes being your superior because Marxism insisted that their misdeeds were merely at the hands of oppression by you, and then being put on mock-trial where they refused to kill you until you yourself admitted you were guilty.
