I recently picked up a Lenovo 100s netbook for 40 USD. It originally had windows 10 and the bios was locked down so you couldn't install linux on it normally. Luckly some blogger on a site called Linuxium was able to modify some ubuntu isos to run off low-spec netbooks like this and I now have lubuntu up and running since yesterday.

Is that common? That just sounds like pure scummery to me. Neat that you got around it, Linux is neat from the little of it I've used.

It's locked down in a sense that the netbook supports a 64 bit operating system but it only reads 32bit Windows isos. If you try to install Linux through the normal traditional way, that bootsble iso will not show up as an option. It's a damn shame because Lenovo laptops were always known to be very compatible with Linux. With that said, this netbook in particular runs linux 95% perfectly. That's a very nice wallpaper by the way.

To be honest with you, no better than a VW for the most part, its just paying 20k Euros extra for a bit faster and more luxurious car that will buy you some status.
