>14 And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.>15 The Lord of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.>16 And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.So the coming being like lightning, being seen above them (in the clouds) blowing a trumpet, and the gathering of His people above the land like a banner (into the air, the rapture in other words)
It's the Lord God who blows the trumpet, but Jesus says it will be Him.
the Apostle Paul drew from both the gospel account, and Zechariah 9 himself when describing Jesus' return in 1 Thessalonians 4
>16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:>17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.Post tribulationists will claim that the Last Trumpet that Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 15 is the 7th trumpet in Revelation 11, Revelation being written decades after Paul died. But an angel blows that trumpet, but Jesus blows the Trumpet Paul was referring to, it's a reference to Zechariah 9, not Revelation.
Pretribulationists will claim that Matthew 24 isn't referring to the rapture.
But if you compare Zechariah 9:14-16, Matthew 24:29-31, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.. you'll see how they all fit.
Then if you go into Revelation, you'll see those signs at the 6th seal in Revelation 6, followed by this huge mass of people in heaven in Revelation 7.
