>>95339317>>>95339151 (OP) (OP)> Nice. Is that model a 3d scan?Yes.
This is enabled by the recent engine programming.
obj_from_mc
and
obj_from_bz (bzflag obj files).
You might ask why the different file extensions for these.
BZflag exported obj files don't load with the regular obj code, also they're not scaled properly, and they're orientated wrong, and the engine crashed when you tried to load an obj file as a world map.
Alot of programming has gone into making it so you can simply and easily use obj files as maps now. From game code (making spawns for you, and not in walls) (making bullet penetration work correctly (not go through whole map), detect materials properly etc) to engine code like actually spawning entity 0 (worldspawn).
Other engine code allows you to add directives to the file name for obj_from_mc:
.scale2048. for instance (scales up the model to be a nice big terrain map, you can go up to 32k or 64k if you want) .basescale1. (up to 64) (default is the same as minetest/minecraft : 64, then you use .scaleX. if your want to scale it more)
scalez (independent scale Z)
scalexy (independet scale XY)
loadstyle1 (for improperly orientated maps)
loadstyle7 (inside out)
These directives allow you to easily take an opensource obj map from say, some online model site, or terrain, and make it a map mostly by just editing the file name.
Then you can add a .mapinfo and a .jpg for some settings and the menu info and a .ent file if you want to add more entities (random cities etc)
