Even if Putil will be gone and the new leadership would say they want close ties with the West, the west will still only try to use it in order to get western corporations to have access to resources and that's it.
I don't believe the west will invest in the country itself. An average russian will still live a miserable life, because it will be the same shit but in different colors. A new wave of rulers to stuff their pockets full while an average Ivan lives like shit.
This country is too big at this point and due to it not being a global power and poor management it missed the opportunity to make the lives of people who live there good. Now its too late.
This country really needs decentralization, to let regions sort their stuff properly without Moscow dictating what to do.
