I had a conversation with a couple of my irl friends, and they were making fun of a guy who mostly hangs out with people he only knows online, saying things like "people you meet online don't mean anything and that "it's pathetic to use vidya to find friends".
Even though I'm in the same position as the guy I didn't think much of it at first, but later in the day I started thinking about it again and I started doubting myself.
Is it possible to form strong friendships with people you meet online, or is it just out of convenience since you share the same interests?
