The light-purple part belonged to the raetic leagues (now grisons) and were incorporated into italy by napoleon.
Mulhouse (dark green) was annexed by France but would probably have become swiss like Geneva, Neuchatêl and other allies of the confederation.
I don't know what the other exclaves mean though.
Switzerland never had any imperialist dreams but we always want more italian speaking alps and it'd be nice to save Mulhouse from french/german nationalism.
