Eating that forbidden apple from the tree of knowledge just revealed to them that God by nature is the cause of violence. He even murdered Adam and Eve just to inadvertently prove their point.
The idea of Satan comes from the human mind being caught in a contradiction, how can their loving God be this extremely violent? So Satan was invented as the diversion from the truth.
