>>18555192I don't think you can call yourself an Empire unless you have hegemony over an entire civilisation, and the British monarchy seems to agree with me since they called themselves Emperors of India and not Britain, since they did not have the same hegemon over their "own" civiliation.
The only true Empires of history are therefor Rome for the Grecoroman, HRE for medieval western, America for the modern west, Caliphate for islam, Persia/Macedon for ancient near east, Incas for ancient Peru, Japan for Japan if you count it as seperate from Sinic, China, and in Britain's case Indic civilisation (and previously mughals among others)
Only among these cases the usage of the *title* "emperor" is appropiate
