At my current job (two office days here, too) we do not have any policy. I spent the first two weeks inspecting what kinds of shorts girls wear, and I didn't see anyone in hot pants. So I decided that my shorts are not office compliant. I bought two pairs of women's bermudas, and had them shortened at the nearby tailor saloon to about mid-thigh. It's still way shorter than any shorts I've seen on males, but long enough that I can get around in them in the office. I don't see my coworkers casting looks at them or anything
