Only a select number of humans go to help govern the earth in the future, as they add that human element that allows those they will help watch over to stay on the right path, just as the bible was written by inspiring human authors so there would be that human element, that element of "this person went through human hardships too".
Most people will be resurrected, educated and even then given a chance to choose whether to accept God's ways. Here on earth. In a paradise that even Adam and Eve did not see.
It is the tactic of demons to keep trying to spread misinformation along with many other tactics common to human vs human conflict.
This disaster called human history is to allow time for humans to exhaust various forms of government, to strike them from the list and see how it fails over and over.
We can't even stop from killing each other or trying to twist the Bible's message (nor do we all even read the Bible and instead some hear what someone says once and that's as much research as they do).
In the future when all is set right and someone asks why do things God's way, they won't have to settle for a "trust me" and will have this record to reflect on.
It's highly unfortunate. Before I hit post the fault zone could activate, earthquakes could happen, the local lake manifest a tsunami, and the power plant could blow, contaminating the air and water.
But all this is akin to a parent allowing their children to follow their obstinate course, yet only because the parent is capable of reversing the effects.
Once the precedent is set, however, while people will still be free to wonder why do things God's way, they won't be allowed to take action and do what is bad like they do now. There will be no point once the precedent is set once and for all.
Right now people have chances and will have chances in the future to change, even as Nineveh did.
