in the case of Starfield, the game runs like ass and needs things like DLSS and FSR 2 to run well on modest hardware
DLSS will run faster than FSR on supported Nvidia hardware and that supported hardware dominates the market right now so it's safe to say a lot of PC gamers probably want DLSS in Starfield
ignoring of course the whole issue that is the games performance... and the weird bugs... can't speak on the gameplay

no it doesnt. unless you have a really shitty GPU and youre using the high settings since higher settings use more vram for the large spritemaps, and they explicitly state that.
Game is l3 cache limited

it's a laptop I got in a pinch, couldn't use anything else for a while
it performs a bit better under Linux but still doesn't work suuuper well, screen is 1080p which I'm sure doesn't help, but I played it for 100+ hours with that random slowness, was fine I guess
that little GPU is criminally weak but I guess it's for office work or something

ah so it is GPU bound but thats because thats like the absolute slowest integrated GPU you can get.
I actually played for a long time on a "G7" cpu. ran fine.
Intel marks the difference of the integrated GPUs via the G number in the cpu name for laptops
