because it's been normalized to a degree where people aren't hiding it. just like with mental illness, there's no reason to actually think there are more lgbt alphabet people than at any point before, just that they are out in the open for the first time. less than a century ago these people would be freely killed for being what they are so there was no way to have good data on this,
