>>18785800A cat doesn't leave any stench, it'll leave all its excrement in the sand box you put out for it. It doesn't even need to be trained to do this, they like doing it there. A few days is an easy stretch for any decently sized litterbox and you can always get two. For a dog you have to leave it outside to avoid any mess, which modern people are reluctant to do.
Cats kinda work as pets since they're mostly solitary but do like being groomed a bit. They can easily serve the purpose of being a living thing you can regularly touch to stave off the intense feelings of isolation and alienation that technological society generates, and then the rest of the time they don't need much. Once you admit that the purpose of a pet is just to have something to touch and care for to satisfy your own simian instincts for companionship, a cat becomes the obvious choice.
I feel sad for modern dogs. Pretty much all breeds used to have a job, that they no longer do. They're working animals that can't work. So instead women buy these giant dogs and throw them in a kennel all day when they go to work and the dog just fucking sits there like a prisoner in solitary. They only get out in the world for maybe an hour a day, more likely a half hour since that's how long the owner will walk them. And you know what I see the owners doing? The dog stops to sniff something, and the owner yanks them forward.
>C'mon, we have to finish up so I can stare at my phone from the couch rather than out here! The dog gets so little time in a day to be a dog and they make them fucking rush through it. They see another dog and the owner yanks them away, can't let dogs play with each other. If they're lucky they get one trip to the dog park a week. What a sad life for once noble animals.
