Just like the roman soldier didn't disrespect the guy on the cross. he killed a guy that didn't deserve to rot on a cross for three days before dying. So by spearing the fellow he would die fast as fuck and not suffer needlessly. Considering if you fucked with a condemned person you tended to take their place on the cross instead in roman law it was a seriously powerful statement about how the romans didn't think he should have been there. And that the commander didn't have the soldier tossed onto the cross show it was a sanctioned mercy killing or at least a pardoned offense. That makes the no disciple a better disciple than the rest even seeing as the killer was living the christs teachings more so than the sheep.

yes, but only briefly. after the crucifixion Jesus too ends up in jewish hell where he has to battle his way back over three days against an army of demons and Satan's lieutenants Doomguy style, along the way he encounters the soul of Judas being tortured and he frees and forgives him, with Judas accompanying him the rest of the way and proving a worthy and loyal disciple in the battles
this should all hopefully be covered in passion of the christ 2: resurrection next year
I imagine it'll include a post credit scene with jesus reemerging from the tomb setting up passion 3: revenge
