I think he does very well, but at the very least, he's moving away from outdated, old, and "legacy" practices, and humanity will benefit from this. Without people like Musk, humanity will remain stuck doing the same old thing, with a small group of influential and/or wealthy individuals ensuring everything is tilted in their favor forever.
I like to imagine what humanity would be like if there were just 10 other people with similar energy and consciousness to Musk.
