i got laid off.

>sudden lay offs announcement
>disconnect/disable everyone affected immediately after the announcement (some during the announcement)

I got canned once by a female manager because she wanted one of her friends to join the company instead. It wasn't an official firing though, they generally just make your life hell until you leave. The modern workplace is fubar.

They laid off more experienced workers so that they could lower payroll expsenses without dealing with the low morale caused by paycuts. The juniors are paid less than you and probably can't expect a raise any time soon, while new hires will probably be paid less from the get go.

That heavily depends on the position. For my job I have recurring deadlines that I'm required to meet, with enough work assigned for each deadline to qork me pretty hard.
