>>18853582>oil recyclingDepends on the condition of the oil after deep frying but usually I do recycle my oil.
I get a beaker-like thing, put a sieve on it then put a paper tower in the sieve (as a paper filter) and filter the oil through it. Important: let the oil cool down partially (not fully), discard the part at the bottom of whatever you were frying in, that will have a lot of residue/particles - it should be clearly visible where this part starts and when you should stop pouring oil.
Works great, oil filtered like that lasts longer as there are no micro pieces that will burn later on and fuck up the oil. As to what food - generally unless something has a very strong smell (e.g. seafood fritters) you can reuse for anything. I often fry tendies, fries and falafels in same oil and it doesn’t negatively influence their taste. If it has a strong smell then simply reuse it with something similar. You can store oil (and animal fats excl. butter) for a long time in a fridge if it’s filtered.
>vegetarian Kek it would be if I didn’t use lard (or mix of lard and sunflower oil) for frying. But yeah falafel I fucking great and always makes me wonder why vegans eat all this artificial processed meat substitutes when the falafel is there, is delicious and has been eaten for a long, long time. No virtue signaling factor maybe?
